I am impressed by your motivation, skill and intelligence in tackling the ongoing projects. So many young people in the USA and the UK are ignorant when it comes to life skills. It is uplifting to see your positivity. Your English vocabulary is also good........... I wish you both the best of luck going forward. 🤔

We didn’t do any van, hehe. We rented a van to travel around New Zealand. Since the beginning the plan we the boat, the container house was a laboratory to learn things to build or refit a boat and also as a way of having a house in our hometown when we are visiting family . The boat came earlier than we planned, that’s why we didn’t finish the house. The house was donated to Duca’s dad to finish it, so we can use it while we are in our hometown and it did its job as a laboratory as we learned a lot during the building 😉

Hi guys! I’ve been loving your work since Duca had a short haircut!!! 😮😮. Your English has got better and better and I am in awe of the patient and meticulous way you work together on even the most tedious of jobs. Can’t wait till you’re “finally (!!)” properly afloat. One teeny thing that you might want to know is that English tends to use “power” rather than “energy” when you’re talking about connecting electrical circuits and devices; don’t ask me why, “energy” seems a much better expression, but it is what it is 😊 Keep up the good work!

As an Master Electrician and pilot, wiring is a pet peeve of mine. I would go insane on your boat! But I really love the way you two tackle your projects and how you are cleaning up messes left by others. I would have gutted the boat, built a new harness and cable race that would be mounted to the inner hull. When a "take off is needed, I would run it in the bottom of the hull as you have. A final note, as an aircraft pilot, I want a visual on all my avionics. You might consider that when you decide which instrument panel design you choose. You'll thank yourselves later when you are in heavy seas.

I have a bad feeling about electric panel. I am sure you have double checked it but having 110 voltmeter on panel make me think that breakers may not be dc. And because of that they were suprisingly cheap.

2 maanden geleden
Odd Life Crafting
Odd Life Crafting

No worries the we didn’t do that mistake. They are DC breakers. They were chip because they were confiscated by the Brazilian customs and they sell a lot of many of the same products for really cheap. The guy that bought the lot sold it for a really chip price. I guess he had no idea how much it was worth. After we and Fred (our friend) bought a total of 9 panels the guy realized it was worth more and raised the price 🤦🏻‍♂️ search for Bluesea DC breakers. That’s the one we bought. 👌🏼😊

Nav station is really coming together nicely. It's convenient that the ceiling where the light was is white. A little patch/wood fill/sanding and a coat of paint, no one will ever know there was a hole there. A plumb bob would have made marking the locations for your upper frame much easier. Something to keep in mind for the next time. Looking forward to next week, so I can see how it all turns out.

You guys are doing a great job.. loving it 😍.. just a suggestion on the panel you are making on top of chart reading table ... make the ply wood panel in a half moon shape for the instrument cluster installation “ ) “ facing the captains chair and rest of the walk area, instead of having edges and taking much space of the table .. doing so will give a one glance vision of all the instrument cluster and will look aesthetically good too ..just a suggestion 😊

My OPINION, nothing more. I don't think I would have done it the way you did. You have a LOT of room directly in front of you when you sit at the helm station. What *I* would have done would have been to create a back panel where the framework at the 'front' of the nav table is, next to the sofa or couch. I would have mounted it flush with the sofa side of the frame, and it would have been going up to where the angle on the port side is, about half way up. Then, you had that piece of trim about 12-15cm to the rear of that frame. I would have used that to build up a front panel where all of the instruments were located. Putting a set of hinges on either the 'front' or 'rear' panel would have allowed easy acces to the instruments. Okay, so this panel would have cut off the ability to see the person sitting on the sofa, but it also is a natural light block from the instruments to anyone who is napping on the sofa. There are benefits and drawbacks. Of course, it's all pointless because you've already decided on how to do it, and put it together, but this is the way I would have done it. I look forward to seeing the finished project. You've both done a great job on bringing this boat back. I can only hope that Ben and MP are as dedicated and detail oriented as you are while they are putting Yaba back together. By the way, I see Duca wearing a Sailing Yaba t-shirt, but I never see MP or Ben wearing an Odd Life t-shirt. C'mon, what's the deal with that? LOL :p

I feel you have lost space on first panel installation. And for the radio phone, you can install above the radio unit. This will prevent the coiled cable to lotter around on desk. Also, when you make the new cutout for light.. the piece you remove can be used to close the old gap... n then finish it all with some sikaflex n paint 😅
